Greetings Everyone!! So, what does everyone think about all this fabulous weather?? I am loving it but do not want it to get much warmer. This is just about right for me. I have had the opportunity to play in the garden, do a little Vitamin D walking, and simply enjoying each day soaking in the rays in one way or another. Hope you are all having fun also. Let's take it while we can get it!!
It has been a busy time for me, hence, no blog for a while. I surprisingly have come to enjoy blogging so I'm glad to have some time to get out here to say hello. Not sure why it has been so busy and it does make me wonder how I ever managed to ever work. It's only been of late that I have felt as good as I do in long time. I actually feel GREAT so I guess summer can do that to a person along with some vitamin B-12. Seems to be working well for me. Continuing to deal with other health issues but those will come along also. It all takes time.
So the only reason that the garden is a big deal is that it has been, well, perhaps 12 years or so since I have entertained the idea of a garden. It's small with flowers, baskets, a tomato plant and also a cucumber plant but it is a start. It does add lots of color to the yard and makes it look pretty so sitting in the sun is made doubly (is this a word?) happy, i.e., the sun and garden. Oh the joys of life do not need to include winning the lottery although that would be lovely and I would be willing to accept it. hee hee One can dream!!
I am continuing to help on occasion at Mimi's Crop Circle in Burien. The Monday make-n-take is a good challenge for me so I have enjoyed being able to contribute ideas and techniques on several of the Mondays each month. I've included some photos of what we worked on this past Monday. It was fun and the group attending is definitely growing which is always fun to have happen. Their 3-year anniversary is coming up so save 9 June 2012 as a day to celebrate with them. There will be demo's, make-n-takes, fun, food, and lots of other great stuff. Mark your calendar and plan on attending. It is rewarding to see folks help to support a small local such as Mimi's. Having a place to play is the incentive that I need to support Mimi's. I hope you share with me this support so...... let's play - anytime. Just let me know when to be there!! I'll bring the tuna sandwiches!!
My baby girl, Kayla, whom many of you know, graduates in 3 weeks from college. Remember when she hung out at the West Seattle shop when she was only 8 or so. Her mom, dad, and I can hardly believe that she is all grown up having turned 21 last week. It was fun to be a part of the dinner party where she was served her first drink. Oh to be young again!! Kayla is not sure the direction she will be heading in but I am confident that whatever it might be, she will realize success and continue to be well rounded. Although not her first love, she has inherited a real talent for paint and canvas. I really do hope it becomes a hobby that she will excel in. Time will tell.
I mostly wanted to say hello so..... Hello!! I'll be back soon. In the meantime, take care.
Hugs to all - Doris
All three of these greeting cards were completed using the same process of wax resist. In these cases, the wax used was that of a Crayola crayon. Each card was stamped with Momento Ink (Tsukineko) and colored in with wax crayons. The blue background was colored in with Prismacolor pencils which work well also because of the high wax content in the pencil. All rubber stamps are from Peddler's Pack. After all the coloring is complete, take the Momento inkpad and do a wash over the entire image. The entire surface will be black. With a paper towel, wipe off as much of the black as possible. The areas colored with the crayons will resist the ink and will wipe right off using the paper towel. Loads of fun!! Enjoy!!
